Six Great Coats
Starring a perfect red trench, ostrich-embossed car coat, and more.
I wasn’t planning for this week’s letter to have a theme, but once I started pulling things together, I realized I had no choice. It had to be coats! And coats specifically (jackets will have their own moment). So without further ado: my take on six perfect coats.
I love a car coat, and this one has particularly good proportions. I have it in dark green (which is sadly no longer) and have worn it constantly this fall. It’s easy to layer underneath, has the just-right amount of swing, and I think this navy is really nice.

You may not have known you needed an ostrich-embossed purple car coat, but I am here to suggest you consider it! This is my favorite event-dressing coat of the season. It’s perfect—the color, texture, and cut especially. Plus, I really love the way it fits.

I’m back with another Zara coat. Given the response to the coat in the first dispatch, I’ve decided to share one more. This one is here for its color and shape. And because I can confirm it is very warm! It’s also an excellent color to pair with all of the chocolate brown I’ve been wearing lately.

Speaking of warm, this coat had to make the list. I love Rue Sophie and particularly love this coat. The detachable collar can be worn as a scarf or belted at the waist, making it both elegant and super versatile. It is the kind of piece that ends up doing a lot of work in your closet.

I almost always find something at Soeur when I’m in Paris. Their pieces are easy and wearable, with just enough personality to feel considered. This boiled-wool coat fits right into that category. The quality is excellent and the fit is just-right. I wear it either as an outer layer or underneath a bigger puffer, weather depending.

Last but certainly not least, this perfect red trench. I love the classic cut and detailing, but the color gives it a fresher edge. I also love the way its styled here with a simple black top and white pants. This is at the top of my wishlist for spring!
